Allowanza

Privacy Policy

Allowanza, published by Lexicarte. Effective date: November 4, 2026.

This policy explains, in plain language, what information the Allowanza iPhone app (“Allowanza”, “we”, “us”) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Questions? Email mike@lexicarte.com.

The short version

1. Information we collect

Account sign-in. You sign in with Apple or Google through Firebase Authentication (a Google service). We receive the email address, name, and a user ID as provided by the sign-in provider. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose “Hide My Email”, we receive a private relay email address instead of your real one.

Family data you enter. To run the app, we store the following in Google Cloud Firestore (part of Firebase):

We recommend using first names or nicknames only for kids. Please don’t enter last names or other identifying details about children.

Subscription status. Purchases are processed by Apple. We never see your card or payment details. Apple sends us subscription status through its App Store server notifications (such as which product you have, when it expires, and whether it’s a test or live purchase) so we can keep your family’s access active.

Reminders. Allowance-day reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. We don’t run a push notification server and don’t collect a push token for reminders.

2. How we use information

We use the information above only to provide the app: sign you in, sync your family’s data across the phones in your family, keep your subscription active, and respond when you contact us.

3. What we don’t do

4. Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers needed to run Allowanza:

We may also disclose information if required by law.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app’s parent settings (Delete account). This deletes your account and your family data. If you’re the last parent in the family, the whole family is removed. You can also email mike@lexicarte.com to ask us to delete your data.

Deleting your account doesn’t cancel an Apple subscription. To cancel, go to iPhone Settings > your name > Subscriptions.

6. Children’s privacy

Allowanza is meant to be set up and managed by parents or guardians. Kids don’t create accounts, don’t sign in, and can’t change allowance or settings without the parent PIN. Parents control what information is entered about their children.

We don’t knowingly collect personal information directly from children beyond what a parent enters. A parent can review, change, or delete their kids’ information in the app at any time, or contact us at mike@lexicarte.com and we’ll delete it. If you believe a child has given us personal information without a parent’s involvement, please contact us and we’ll delete it.

7. Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with Google Cloud, with access limited to members of your family through Firebase security rules. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. International transfers

Your data is stored and processed on Google’s servers. Our server functions run in Google Cloud region europe-west1 (Belgium), and Google may process data in other countries where it operates. By using Allowanza, you understand your information may be processed outside your country.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the effective date above. For significant changes, we’ll let you know in the app or by other reasonable means.
